Wood width

    Hi,
    I’m gathering the materials to try this project and I wonder about the wood thickness. The course reccomends ½-⅝” (12-16mm).
    I can get the wood in small pieces from an online shop in 10mm (3/8”) or 20mm (13/16”).
    Do you think 10mm would be enough? 20mm seems like a lot to shave to get an easy to handle spatula.
    Also, about the wood. For a first attempt what wood woul you reccomend (easier to work, etc.).
