Hi,
Apologies for the newbie question but I have built a shooting board, and I am trying to square the end grain of a piece of oak which is 2 by 1 inches. I am using a Stanley 4 smoothing plane with a very sharp blade (or at least I think it is), but it is like running my plane into a piece of rock.
I am so new to this that I don’t know if people are going to come back and say “well how do you expect to end grain oak with a No 4 plane”, or that I should be able to do it if my blade was sharp enough.
Any comments/suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Matt
