About the Sawbench, I suggest you look at the one by Christopher Schwarz (Lost Art Press). Its a traditional sawbench that works well for me in a variety of ways and functions, well worth the space it takes up in the shop/garage.
About the Shopsmith: Not sure how that ended up in here, but I am still using the one my father bought in 1956. I’ve up graded the headstock, but not the tables, and added several add-on machines (bandsaw, grinder, biscuit joiner, jointer) and been happy with it. I’ve worked in a cabinet shop and there are many shortcomings compared to individual machines but the space-saving makes the compromise worth it for me. It’s in my 8’x10′ shop
